Project Rooftop Captain America
All right before I get killed by loyal fans of Captain America…
Here are a few words and thoughts about what and why I did this Captain America redesign for the Project Rooftop forum.
Like anyone else I would never have changed the real look of Captain America, to me he is one of the classics that can’t be touched. Some of the other characters that shouldn’t ever be touched are, Superman, & Spiderman.
Needless to say, I went ahead and did some thinking. I thought that if Steve Rogers was around in WW2, more than likely he would have ran with The Devil Brigade, or something close to them, I did some quick internet searching, and found the timeline to be accurate. (The red spearhead on his shoulder)
Second. If Captain America woke up to a modern day America, how would this character feel…Seeing the history of what America has become since the 40′s and what is now, would be one of the most shocking situations in my mind to wake up in. I don’t think he would be a happy go get them spirited fighter.
So I went ahead, and gave Captain America a make over, he’s wearing typical Army clothing, Standard chest gear, and armed with a 9MM that I blacked out. (time reasons) I left the Devil Brigade patch on, since if he earned one, I would be sure as hell he would be still wearing it. Pretty much just left him as a special operations operative, with a sheild on.
Last I wasn’t sure about the A on his head I understand with the cowl what it stands for, but it just seems like over kill to me. So I added it on as a rag on his head which made him look more like Snake from Metal Gear Solid. I also agree with Toyebot, about the colors, I like his muted blues and reds! I don’t think that anyone in a combat situation would be running around with crayon colors on.
Oh well, there are plenty of mistakes on here, plenty of coloring issues, plenty of perspective and anatomy but oh well. I had fun doing this.
Heres a look at what I did and how I was thinking about taking this on.

I dig the Solid Snake look for Cap. Good call on the muted colors.
