And yet another Mikki, I ended up finding some notes and sample scripts I have written so far for Echoes, that I really need to get back to. Story is solid, just needs more polish.

Playing around with the eyes, I don’t know what I don’t like about the face. Maybe the eyes are to big, and the lips. Maybe its the nose. Who knows.

Detail shot of the foot, I worked in painter pretty much all day. I’m still not use to it against photoshop but I love the Knife tool. Blends so well.

To much attention to the face and the breasts, I realized I made the rest of the image lack.

Clean up and started to work on the cloth then realized its time to leave. Damn it

Here is the step by step process that I took today.

Started off blocking in this form, then thought it was pretty boring. Then re-bocked in another form.

Here is the new form and thoughts I had at the time with it. After blocking this in photoshop I moved the PSD to Painter.

I’m not sure why I go to painter all the time, but I have to say I love to sketch in Painter. The pencil brush is outstanding.
After getting my sketch a little tighter, I go back and forth from Painter to Photoshop to make sure things look right. If they don’t I go ahead and re-block in a little more.

After re-blocking a bit, I go for the pencils, note while I listen to music I like to write down what I’m listening to. This case it would be Sonic Youth “Diamond Sea”

Later I mess up everything by scribbling all over the image, trying to figure out what I’m really doing. I don’t plan things out well sometimes, and just go straight for the image or figure. Then I realize I need more elements on the illustration to make it look a little cooler than some random naked painting.

After I go back over the whole drawing with a thinner pencil. I think I could just erase around the nasty pencil lines, but for some reason I like to spend much more time fixing my mistakes by re-penciling (IDIOT)

Next I go into color blocking so I can see what I’m working on, its dirty as hell, I just lay down colors as quick as I can then go back over it non stop with some different brushes at different opacity.

Clean up ugly lines and start toning.

At this stage, I am just changing opacity in the brush, then going into Painter, and use the palette knife to mix the colors a little better, this also makes the lines shaper, which is something I prefer, blocky..

More back and forth to get a little closer to how I like the paint to feel.

This is where I stopped for the day. Sometimes its just better to come back to it in the morning, to see what I wasn’t looking at in the first place.

Many of these are nasty sketches, since the bus likes to move around a bit, and or I get hit by people standing next to me while riding.  Well heres to more updates as I make them.

Heres a sketch from today, while riding the bus looking out the window thinking of something to sketch I noticed this woman with a real strong pose standing in the aisle. I just wanted to figure out the form.

Ended up finding a couple pages of the script I started to write last year, which refueled my desires of the story, now I need the time, and put in the effort to actually do this.

After I got painter 12 again, I thought it would be fun just to use the good old pencil tool in that application. Photoshop does wonders but feels to clean to me sometimes. Any how heres what I was playing with today. Hope you enjoy.

Here is the work up of the file. I started off blocking in the whole area that the girl was standing in. Then went back retraced it over a couple times to get where I wanted to get to.

After figuring out how ugly of a drawing I was making I reblocked in some shadows so I could see where some of the bends and things were.

In photoshop, I got to the point where I was almost done. Then I decided to bump my computer with the chair I was sitting in and lost the file. Lucky me, I was taking some screen shots as I was penciling.

Took a screen shot and decided to take it back into painter, so I could give the lines a little bit of a messy feeling.

Also had a nice adventure with some of the crew from TITMOUSE. We believe that we found the area where they filmed a part of “HEAT” in some dark alley way far far away.
