Pokémon Black and White Version 2

For the upcoming releases of Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, JVST created a website that not only told the story of both games but of the unique experience you get when you play both. With the first-of-its-kind double parallax scrolling, the site visually communicates the dual nature of the games while also highlighting their commonalities.

A New Game, A New Set of Challenges

After multiple successful projects for Pokémon Company International, I had another opportunity to work on Pokémon Black and White version 2.

Pokémon Company International came to JVST and gave us free rein of creativity for the project. With one stipulation, no elements of the Black game could touch the White game.

The creative team and developers came together and thought of a wild double parallax site that shifted directions and elements while a user scrolled.

Storyboards

The first steps with the approvals was a series of drawings showing how the black and white items would move in the background of the site.

Depicting how the page transitions would flow from section to section, allowing the Pokémon team to understand transitional flows.

Sitemap, Wireframe

Once all the approval dates came back to JVST with the different release dates on special characters and items released, our sitemap and wireframes were approved to move into the final stages of design and production.
